About San Anselmo

A postcard-perfect town with beautiful neighborhoods. Covering 2.68 square miles, San Anselmo has many unique neighborhoods — each one special in its own way. Geographically, the town is bordered by Ross to the south, Fairfax to the west, and San Rafael to the east. Homes are on flat and hillside lots. Much of the surrounding hills are owned by the town and county, offering endless outdoor trails. For families with young children, the public school system in San Anselmo is top rated.

Growing up in San Anselmo. My dad had his office on Bank Street near downtown. I’ve spent a lifetime enjoying the restaurants, cafes, and shops of San Anselmo. Our family is invested in San Anselmo and own several commercial buildings, which we lovingly maintain. In 2021, it was time to move my family back to Marin after 15 years in San Francisco. San Anselmo was the natural choice and we bought a home near Memorial Park.

Lots of activities, dining, and shopping. During the Summer, the town closes its primary street — San Anselmo Avenue — to cars in the evenings on Fridays and Saturdays. The town comes alive with families from all around. There’s live music in the park, and the many restaurants and shops offer to-go refreshments. Whether it’s pizza at Creekside, Italian dining at Cucina SA, or rooftop deck views and tasty food at Keintz Hall, San Anselmo has many choices. Below are other favorites of mine.

• San Anselmo Coffee Roasters — Coffee, breakfast and lunch options.

• M.H. Bread and Butter — I could eat their fried egg sandwich and avocado toast every morning.

• Longway — A boutique retail space with super good coffee and muffins in the back.

• Comforts — Known for their Chinese Chicken Salad, and incredible breakfast and lunch menus.

• Taqueria Mi Pueblo — Authentic Mexican.

• Madcap — Very high-end restaurant near Mi Pueblo.

• The Hub — Located at Red Hill Shopping Center and great for a burger and fries. Tell Gerry (pronounced Jerry) I sent you.

• Hilda’s — Incredible pancakes and omelets!
